Welcome to Lakeside Residential Care Home

Our future is your care

Lakeside is a family run business and the proprietors believe firmly in the role of the family in providing care for all its member.

Lakeside was originally a B&B, but after the family took on the role of carer to a loved one they realised that they wanted to make a difference; they saw that older people often don’t get the quality of care they deserve after a life of contribution. So they took about the task of turning their business into an exceptional residential home and Lakeside care home was established in 2009.

Lakeside is situated a few miles from Okehampton and is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC). It lies within extensive landscaped grounds on the edge of Dartmoor including lawns, flowerbeds, and lakes with a footpath perimeter accessible to all residents. The lakes are surrounded by 79 acres of natural meadows and woodland, home to some of Devon’s rarest and most beautiful flora and fauna. All this is set in glorious rolling countryside and has far reaching views with Devon’s Dartmoor National Park as a majestic backdrop.

We have 21 en suite bedrooms on the ground floor and 8 on the first floor 4 with access by a stair lift and 4 with access by a passenger lift. Most enjoy a superb outlook, either across the lakes, or over the Devon countryside towards Dartmoor’s highest Western Tors.

Lakeside provides a caring and stimulating environment for its members and we also provide much needed respite care for individuals, giving families a break from caring for the needs of their loved ones. At Lakeside we focus on making our home as caring and homely as could be, our home has a wonderful feeling of family and belonging.

At Lakeside we have three main aims:

  1. Providing great care and facilities
  2. Employing passionate and dedicated people
  3. Develop our team with training and personal development coaching

Lakeside has developed our working practices around understanding the often sensitive and emotional aspect of entrusting us with your care or the care of a loved one.

We believe that care and dignity come hand in hand and recognize that everyone has different needs. We will ensure you have help and support whilst maintaining as much independence as possible.

You will always be treated with respect and we will do all we can to preserve your dignity.

Family and friends are welcome to visit at any time and we encourage individuals to be as sociable as possible, providing areas they feel at home and comfortable in.

Our empathies are on a flexible, quality, personalized, individual care and providing support by a skilled, firendly team.

Louise will carry out an initial assessment followed by a person centered care plan tailored to the individuals specific needs. Taking into account a holistic approach which identifies physical, psychological, social, emotional and spiritual needs. This ensures the individual receives all the care and support they need to live as independently as possible within the home. The care plan is written up with the resident and or family or if they wish, an advocate.

Each resident is allocated a member of care staff to act as keyworker. This keyworker will work with them to ensure their care plans are monitored and reviewed regularly.

At Lakeside we work very closely with other health professionals to ensure individuals in our care receive a full package of care based on their assessed needs. We also offer support and assistance to individuals who wish to access health professional independently.

Our residents come from all over Devon, Dorset and Cornwall including Okehampton, Exeter, Crediton, Launceston, Tavistock, Exmouth, Dawlish, Plymouth, Bodmin, Honiton, Torquay, Hatherleigh and Bude.
