We welcome visitors at any time ,we do ask vsitors to avoid lunch time which is between 1pm and 2.30pm as it is a very busy time for our staff.
The reception area is open please ring the bell and staff will be with you as soon as they can ,please do not knock on the internal doors or windows, this is upsetting for the residents ,at times there maybe a delay in responding to the doorbell during busy periods, it is important to note that its a joint responsibility of staff to answer the door ,not solely that of the office staff.
We kindly appreciate your understanding and patience during these moments.
If you feeling unwell,we kindly request that you refrain from visiting. If you feel you must visit please ensure you protect yourself and others ,this may mean wearing a face covering /mask or visiting the person in the garden, your cooperation is greatly appreciated , its important that we all continue maintaining a safe environment for all.
Lakeside is a family run business and the proprietors believe firmly in the role of the family in providing care for all its member.
Lakeside started as a B&B, but after the family took on the role of carer to a loved one they realised that they wanted to make a difference; they saw that older people often don’t get the quality of care they deserve after a life of contribution. So we took about the task of turning our business into an exceptional residential home and Lakeside Residential home was established in 2009.
Lakeside is situated a few miles from Okehampton, we are registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC). It lies within extensive landscaped grounds on the edge of Dartmoor including lawns, flowerbeds, and lakes with a footpath perimeter accessible to all residents. The lakes are surrounded by 79 acres of natural meadows and woodland, home to some of Devon’s rarest and most beautiful flora and fauna. All this is set in glorious rolling countryside and has far reaching views with Devon’s Dartmoor National Park as a majestic backdrop, We have a hotel buggy to take residents around the grounds to see the wild life ,Lakes and our animals.
We have 22 ground-floor rooms with an addition 4 rooms on the first floor of the original farm house , then 10 rooms on the lower floor, both areas have a passenger lift to help access the areas and a further 4 rooms have access via a stair lift.
Most enjoy a superb outlook, either across the lakes, or over the Devon countryside towards Dartmoor’s highest Western Tors or views of our gardens and avery.
Lakeside provides a caring and stimulating environment for its members and we also provide much needed respite care for individuals, giving families a break from caring for the needs of their loved ones. At Lakeside we focus on making our home as caring and homely as could be, our home has a wonderful feeling of family and belonging.
All rooms are redecorated and otex used when a resident moves on.
To protect our residents in the home we have an Otex Sanitiser /disinfection portable machine which we use in the home to sanitise rooms and communal areas to kills viruses instantly.
